Fox (original colored pencil drawing by Leslie Hawes)

Fox  by  Leslie Hawes (c)

original colored pencil drawing, Derwent Artists pencils,  4 ½”  x 6″,  $50.

I guess I first fell in love with the fox from reading Aesop’s Fables. They seem to have that extra little bit of clever about them that lifts them into the realm of magic.

This little original drawing can be seen in my Fine Art America gallery.

I very recently started a gallery for Prints on Demand at Fine Art America. I am still adding to it, and getting used to all the functions of the site.  Stop over there and take a look around.

  3. There was a fox behind my parents’ house when I was there last weekend. It was very long and lanky. And … sly-looking…….. Blogged it yesterday. :-)

  4. Hi, Vicki! I just looked at the itchy fox! Looks just like a teen-ager fox.

  5. For some reason I hadn’t realized foxes were so lean and lanky. From tv I’ve thought of them as more … cobby.

    Guess not!

  6. I bet the foxes on the TV are usually in winter coat, which makes them look chunkier. I’ve got a pic of a teen ager coyote that looks like he’s on stilts!

  7. He certainly does!

I’m sure you’re right about the winter coats.

I know, with dogs, their chests drop as they get to social maturity; perhaps that’s true of wild canids as well, and also accounts for some of the lessening of that stilt look.

  10. I stumbled upon this while searching for images of foxes from Aesop’s Fables. I think that is the most perfect fox drawing I have ever seen. I am looking for one to get tattooed, but I have yet to find exactly what I’m looking for. Ideally, I want a fox that looks like yours but that is dressed like Robin Hood. Thanks for the inspiration!
