Well, Mom finally took me to the park again! We have been doing all this “off leash” stuff, and I reminded her that the dog park was also “off leash”, so off we went! We need more pictures for The Black Dog Diaries!
First, Mom took me on an off leash walk down our road. Nothing new, so I stayed by her pretty close, except for one time when I saw a rabbit and gave it a chase. I must have picked on the same rabbit that a hawk had its eye on, too, because the hawk came up into the air and then ’swooped’ me. I kinda ’swooped’ back up at it, so it flew up higher, but as I ran further down the road it followed me. Mom said it was chasing me, but I’m so fast it couldn’t catch me.
Leslie here. Indeed the hawk gave chase. For one brief moment I thought Deuce was going to get pecked on the head (he’s way too big to be carried off aloft) but the hawk just followed him, and then flew up to a chimney on one of the neighbor’s houses and glared at us. One lucky rabbit, I suspect.
Hey! Deuce here! This is my blog, isn’t it? As I was saying…
After the walking and swooping and ‘wait’ and ‘come’, Mom took me to the car and said “UP” which means get in, and then “scootch over” which means I can’t sit where she does, to drive, and we went to the gas station. I ‘wait’ while Mom gets out. She says I do that very well. Then we went to the toyfood store and got a bag of food, a box of cookies, a new bone, and another Kong. I met a nice girl at the checkout counter, and let her give me treats. The ’shake’ command is coming in very hand-ey..er…paw-ey. You know what I mean. It gets the girls and the treats!
Then…finally…Mom took me to the Dog Park.
It was later than early, so the park was quiet. There was one very nice dog to play with. Her name is Molly, and we had met once before. She’s a bagel…no…a beagle, Mom says. Well, we had fun. She kept teasing me, so I kept letting her.

Our people talked a long time, because it was such very nice weather. It has stopped being very hot. Now it’s just nice. So Molly and I played and played. I think she likes me. What’s not to like, I might ask?

When we got home, I got breakfast, which was at lunch time, but we call it dinner anyway. Call it what you like, just feed me!
Life is getting pretty good around here. I think it’s the weather. And the Kong. And the girls. All of it, yep, all of it.
paws,
Deuce
P S Hey Mom! It’s time for a new bigger red collar, ya think? Guess we’ll have to go back to the toyfood store and see that nice girl that gives out treats…er…I mean, where they sell the collars.
