Saturday at the Dog Park

7.28 Harrison …Are you watchin’ Me?

What a great  day at the park!

The Black Dog Diaries is becoming a real good place for all the dog park pups to see themselves on the “big screen”. We are all turning into  internet stars.

Pose for the camera.  Smile!  Say “cookies”, or “cheese”, or “peanut butter” or “snausages”!  That’s a fun word to say, isn’t it?  Snausages…snausages…snausages!

OK. Back to business.

When we came to the park the other day, and I got to play in the small dog side of the park, Mom didn’t get all  the pictures that she should have. So, today she made up for it.  Good girl, Mom.  You get a snausage, or a cookie, or some cheese…

I am so easily distracted.  Here’s some of the crowd…

Mom got everybody’s picture today, but she did not get all the names. This is great, because it means I get to come back to the park, so she can get caught up on all the names and how to ’spell ‘them, whatever ’spell’ is. She says that if she doesn’t ’spell’ the names right, that everybody is supposed to hold her down and bite her ears…no, wait…you’re supposed to tell  her how to spell them right.

Dad came with to the park, too. We really like it when he does, because he can drive real good, and he can throw the ball FAR for the retreiver dogs. And he’s not afraid of anything, ever.

 7.26 Alli, Archie and Deuce

What a day! Again, Mom came through with a brilliant idea. She said she needed new material for the Black Dog Diaries, so we went to the dog park, and boy, did we ever  get material for the blog!  Yikes!

We stayed at the dog park from about 7:30 til about 10:30. I am exhausted just thinking about it.

Matter of fact, I’m going to doze off here, and let Mom take over. She knows the routine…..z….z…z…z…

Leslie here.

It was quite  the morning!  When we arrived, the “big dog” side of the park was empty. All the activity was on the “small dog” side. I asked permission to bring my big lug in there, hoping he wouldn’t be all ‘fraidy-cat’ like last time. He started out that way, but very quickly found Archie to play with, and Ruby was enticing him, and  off he went.

He had a grand time. He was definitely the big guy in with the little guys. I also met some really great people there too.

When everyone on the “small dog” side decided they had had enough and went home, I went to the “big dog” side with Deuce. There was one very large, beautiful red Doberman there, and he looked like he could use someone to play with.  His name is Magnum. Deuce was a little intimidated by him, though Magnum was looking to play. Deuce still doesn’t know what size he is.  Magnum just looked too big to him. And Deuce had just come from the “small dog” side of the park, and he was still in “small dog” mode.  He didn’t really engage in play with Magnum. Poor Magnum. He really wanted to romp.

We were joined in a short time by Maya and Tux.

7.26.07 Tuxedo and Deuce

Maya was on her first visit to the park, and she was overwhelmed by it all. Only a short while ago, Deuce was the one pasted up flat against the fence. It took only a few visits to the park, and he’s quite the pro now. A regular ‘meet and greet’ committee. Maya is a sweetie pie, with very soft fur. She will find a friend at the park as she makes more visits, and will have fun soon.

7.26 Maya’s first visit

Tux, that’s short for Tuxedo, to match his black and white tuxedo coloring, was friends with everybody right away. He thought Magnum was big, and Maya was too sweet, and Deuce was just right, Goldilocks!  Game on!

7.26 Tux attack

The two of them jumped, chewed, pushed, shoved, drank, ran, rolled, and panted. I have pictures to prove it.

Tux is a cutie. His Dad said he had been rescued at two weeks old, from a dicey situation, and had been bottle fed. He was now a robust and rambunctious guy, about 7 months old.

Hope we see more of him. He was instrumental in tiring Deuce out for me. I feel very lucky when I can find help!

I stopped and took a few cloud pictures on the way home. Supposed to be some serious monsoon this weekend. I will not shoo away the rain.

7.26 Deuce rinsed after the dog park

I gave Deuce a good rinse off at the house, and fed him, and it was easy to get him to settle in. I may not hear from him til dinnertime…

 7.23 handsome grown up Eddie

What a great surprise. Mom opened the door and there he was…my good friend EDDIE !!!!

His Dad had been going to take him for a walk, but my Mom ran outside and said bring him in instead.

Let the games begin!

7.23 1…2…3… GO!

Mom needed new pictures of Eddie all grown up. We ran and played and drank water and generally didn’t stand still too much to have our pictures taken.

Thanks Mom! Thanks Eddie’s Dad. You can bring him over to play ANY time.

This is Eddie’s old…er…baby picture. He’s really old now. Like me.

Dog Park Saturday

7.21 dog park meet and greet

What a great Day at the Dog Park! The weather was good, the crowd was happy, and the tails were waggin’.

We got there about 7:30, and it was down to “business” right away. Meet and Greet.  Lots of new heads and tails to say hi to.  Mom says I am getting very good at fitting in. It sure does make me happy to be there. I say “HI” to everyone.

7.21 Tally

I met Tally. She’s from Germanyland. And she points at stuff, and chases birds really well.

She liked the muddy spot to cool off.

Mud is good.

7.21 Buddy

This is Buddy. He likes tennis balls. You are not allowed to play with his tennis ball. He pretends to be mad if you get near his tennis ball, but he isn’t. He just doesn’t want to lose it. And he thinks mud is good, too.

I still don’t chase tennis balls. I just don’t get that.   Hey. I made a joke. I just don’t ‘get’ tennis balls. ha

We stayed until almost 10 o’clock. I was hungry and tired when we got home. I tried to not get out of the truck when we got home, because Mom has taken to getting me wet when she rinses me. Can’t she just rinse me without the water?

I had a good breakfast, and am almost sleeping. I will be napping the minute Mom finishes this blog post in the Black Dog Diaries for me, Deuce, the handsome dog.

Oh, and we took a one mile walk before  all that fun! Whew. I am an athlete.
