Saturday morning cartoons

 saturday morning

I know. I know. You are waiting for me to finish the coloring lesson.

It’s too hot,  and it’s Saturday

I used to wait with great anticipation for Saturday Morning.  I would hop out of bed, go to the bottom drawer in the storage cabinet in the kitchen, pull out a favored coloring book or two, grab the crayolas, and head for the TV.  I would turn on Farmer Gray Cartoons, flop down on my belly way too close to the TV, (you’ll ruin your eyes close) and proceed to color.

Farmer Gray cartoons were silent cartoons.  Well, they played music.  Nice music.  No Biff Bam Bop cartoon violence.  Just a whole bunch of nice music and millions of pesky mice for the Farmer to try to outwit.

OK, people.  I’m driving just slightly over 55, so most of you kiddies out there don’t have a clue who Farmer Gray is.  But for those of you who do, it was good times.  Soothing and peaceful.  And my mother told me that she knew where I was if the music was playing, so she and my father could linger in the bed, on a Saturday morning.

Entrepreneur Magazine cover july 2007

http://www.entrepreneur.com/magazine/entrepreneur/2007/july/180484.html

Received my July issue of Entrepreneur Magazine this week. Great article titled, “Site Unseen” by Catherine Seda.

When you read the article, you will see why the title of this post seems incongruous with the content of the post.

Not really.

I will now become more conscious of my titles. Then again, making silly, quirky titles that promote mental gymnastics has been half the fun of writing posts. I am having too much fun making this blog mirror my thinking pattern, which is all over the lot. I create links at the bottom of my posts that usually hold some quirky link, a word pun, or a thought pun.

This is not just a colored pencil fantasy artist art blog. This is a Leslie’s Blog.

Have fun looking around. Be silly along with me.

Music, books, movies, TV

I would like to invite all you visitors to peruse my “about” pages. They get lost in the shuffle.

I have always thought that getting a look at the titles on a persons bookshelves was telling about that person. I took a couple of pictures of my bookshelves, but there was so much dusting to do, I didn’t post the pics! ( until now )

I’m not a movie go-er.  I watch too much TV.  I listen to the radio a bunch, National Public Radio.  I don’t read nearly as much as I would like, but I read a lot.

I am open to suggestions.  I have a hot ( as in “cool”, not stolen ) library card, and a movie rental card.  My TV recorder is loaded to maximum.  I will never watch all the Bill Moyers and Frontlines that I have recorded.  I will try.

Broaden my horizons, folks.

Too hot

Irish country house

OK folks. It’s officially TOO HOT. And it’s been this way for TOO LONG. The dog is bored, I’m feeling cabin fever. This really is our ‘winter’, where you become confined to the indoors because of the elements. No, elements.  It’s too hot for elephants. The radio just said 105.  It’s 3PM. http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/forecast/MapClick.php?minlon=-113.41&maxlon=-108.98&minlat=31.22&maxlat=33.89&mapwidth=354&site=twc&map.x=204&map.y=162

So I have let my mind wander, wrapped around a tall iced coffee. Made it myself. Drinkin’ it myself, too.

And I’m gonna let the blog post for the day wander, too.

Flotsam and jetsam and lagan.

My good friend has begun a blog. It is WAY computer technical, and I am fascinated. He will only allude  to how brilliant he is, so I will say it straight up.  Brilliant.  He’s on my sidebar blogroll, but I am putting him here, right before your eyes…

There is SO much really great stuff being thought of and written about out there in the blogs. I am delighted every moment that I look around. Granted, graduating from dial up to cable connection has made a difference in accessibility…Nonetheless, it’s a great world out there. It is actually renewing my hope for mankind that there are enough wonderful thinking people among us. Hooray for us!

I have been to the Royal Highland Show in Scotland, and listened to the rain. http://fuzzydragons.blogspot.com/2007/06/royal-highland-show-2007.html

I’ve worried about Dan, and all the flooding in England. http://uniquest.blogspot.com/2007/06/twice-in-two-weeks-part-2.html

I visit every day with a rambunctious puppy that makes my border collie look obedient. http://puppies-diary.blogspot.com/

I’ve argued religion, naked, vicariously, in a men’s locker room. http://greatelsewhere.blogspot.com/2007/06/pattern-on-foosball_21.html

I have been to art shows, and art workshops. I have painted with oils, pastels, drawn with colored pencils, and run my hands over homemade felt cloth. I visited with my girlfriends while they made art together. http://jocastilloartblog.blogspot.com/2007/06/reading-assignment.html

I talked about the Golden Section, being a hippie, the Constitution, pasties, skeebies, mesquite beans, mud, Anthony Bourdain, Dylan Thomas. I have met squirrels, fairies, cats, dogs. I have visited Singapore,Wales, Scotland, Kuala Lumpur, Ireland, Texas, England. I have talked rain, snow, heat, flood, cactus, flowers, trees, pigs. I now know there is a whole new world of ‘smallholdings‘. I expect I am pestering some poor bloggers with my incessant comments. I hope I’m adding content:)

My coffee is finished. This post is finished. I just had to let you all know where I go with my blog. I love it. Tomorrow I will do more art stuff. It’s just too hot today.
