I have a cold.
It’s not bad, but I don’t do colds well. This one has me dealing with inner ear clogginess, and I get vertigo. Those of you who know me, know that “dizzy” isn’t an abnormal condition for me, but combined with a rough cough, and fatigue, I’m just all… well, I have a cold.
I am walking, though holding onto things, and sometimes my ears unclog, and I hear the TV and realize why my husband suspects I am deaf.
I get to tell you firsthand the “prescription” for a cold, given years ago to my mother from our General Practitioner. He told my mother, (and I just love this…) “I could give you something for it, and it would go away in two weeks, or I can have you take nothing for it, and it will go away in a fortnight.”
Then he would charge her $5. No kidding. Just $5. His name was Dr. Lance. No kidding.
So, here I am, all cloggy, and cranky.
Aside from trying to garner everyones sympathy… all together now … AWWWWWW, POOR LESLIE… I want to create an intermission in my hippie trip.
I have written a meme on Dance for Eastcoastdweller and will post it later today, or tomorrow, because the timing is apropos for this week. And timing is a good thing in dance.
I want to urge everyone to try writing about a significant dance in your life. It was a fun thing to examine. I am hereby officially tagging you ALL to write about Dance. There. Tagged. It doesn’t have to be a meme, just think about a dance in your life, and then write about it. If you do write about it, let me know and I will link your post at the end of my Dance post.
I have participated in a meme with The Flying Trilobite called The Pharyngula Mutating Genre Meme, and it is fun and funny and makes my head hurt. Thinking and having this cold are murder. But Mr. Smarty Dale over at The Meming of Life has thrown this meme back at me and I want to hurt myself some more. All the Genre Mutating has introduced me to a half zillion new and brilliant blogs I want to explore. Thinktoomuch has a post that will keep me busy thinking…
And more than anything, I want to read and comment on all the blogs I visit. I have been so nose down in my “trip” story that I have not gone out into the blog world to hear what everyone else is doing.
Fuzzy Dragons, Frozen Toothpaste, Red Ravine …and everybody on my blogroll and links list!
And everybody go see Burbanmom at Going Green. This is what we all should be doing!
My dog’s blog, Black Dog Diaries, has become silent, and though I have done much with him, the little dickens, I haven’t posted to his blog. It needs attention.
And folks, the weather in Tucson is spectacular. Don’t tell anyone, but it is gorgeous here this time of year. I have been playing outside a bit, like a bear coming out of summer hibernation. This is essentially our ’spring’ after the long winter of killer heat.
So this cold is really making me mad. It’s giving me a bad case of the “I don’t wanna’s”, and I have a loverly bunch of wannas to do.
I will continue the saga of the hippie trip soon.
I haven’t forgotten that some readers like the art posts.
But I’m starting with the easiest, which is drinking some coffee and making excuses…
Leslie

Aaawwwwww, poor Leslie! Hope you’re feeling better soon! Eat lots of chicken soup with cayenne and cumin — it’ll clear you right up! Also, a pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks couldn’t hurt….

Poor stuffy-earred Leslie! Thank goodness you are in warm, beautiful Tucson, else you’d really be miserable!
Thanks for the tip on writing about dance. That’s a good one, and I’m going to try to fit it in (after my ghosts/haunting piece). Oh, and I wanted to say that the silver lining about this cold you have is that at least it hasn’t affected your taste buds. You still got coffee, and that’s a lot!!

Hello Burbanmom, I am feeling all warm from the sympathy coming my way. Or is it the soup with the cayenne?
I do resort to hot peppers or salsa for a cold. They help. And they taste good!
I talked to my father recently, and he said that when he got a cold, his mother gave him a bowl of boiled potatoes, and told him to breathe the steam. And then when he had a sore throat, honey and whiskey. Sounds like a couple of seriously Irish cures to me
Thanks Jennifer. I hope you ‘dodge the bullet’ when you make your trip to Canada. I have to think I picked up this buggy thing from the grocery store.
Hi ybonesy! What? I can’t hear you…what? Could you turn that up?
I think the cloggy ears make me the grumpiest. I wish I could hook up the air compressor and just blast through from one side to the other. And you’re right…I haven’t lost my sense of taste. I NEVER lose my appetitie…darn.
The Dance theme is cool, huh? It’s one of those universal things that I just didn’t consider until it was suggested. I saw something recently on Music, too, that made me recognize it as a cultural universal. Same with ghosts/haunting. Now I will go read about that…
Thank you ladies for the thoughts and sympathy. Best chicken soup I’ve had
