I think I first ‘met’ Neath by looking at the link I saw on Red Ravine. The name, Walking Turcot Yards, totally intrigued me.
When I first visited, I wasn’t sure what I was seeing. There was this amazing art being made in this unusual setting of a cathedral like space created by highway overpasses. I always thought that highway overpasses were scary, noisy, thundering, forbidding places. Places you never walked.
Instead, someone was making ART there!
Turcot Yards are the worlds largest abandoned urban space, located in Montreal, Canada. The space isn’t marred by the pounding rhythm of overhead traffic. It seems to me to be a place of tranquility.
Neath is a photographer/artist finding the beauty and serenity of this unusual place. Walking Turcot Yards is Neath’s blog about walking there, making Art there.
I have grown to love Turcot Yards. I have only been able to visit through Neath’s eyes. He makes it beautiful and artful.
Intriguing name, intriguing blog, intriguing person.

And now, something exciting is happening. You can Meet Neath in person!
I am very pleased to post this information to my blog. Please look around on Walking Turcot Yards, get a feel for what is happening there, and if you are close enough to Montreal next Sunday, go say hello to Neath. Tell him you like what he’s doing in that abandoned space. Tell him you like his blog. Take a camera. Take pictures. Blog about the experience. I won’t be able to be there. I would love to see what goes on…

ybonesy,
I have been encouraging everyone to bring a camera. Wouldn’t it be fun to go? I saw Walking Turcot Yards from your blog first, I believe. It’s a cool blog, isn’t it?

That it is.
Doesn’t it make you look at abandoned spaces differently? I know I do.

ybonesy,
When I first took a look, I got ‘the willies’ because I had fled from that sort of environment. The fact that there was ART there gave me the courage to stay a while.
I have always found beauty in everything. If I don’t like a subject, I look at the color or texture. Walking Turcot Yards is an amazing blog. There is a sense of joy about it that I found totally unexpected. Yes, it had definitely given me a new way to see!
Kisses to Neath, and I hope everyone that is close enough to Montreal this coming Sunday will stick their head in the door of The Green Spot and say Hi!

Hi everyone!
Some fiddling with the timestamp, or draft/publish status. (I’m such a genius) I had posted this originally back on the 4th, and it was a bit early for the occasion. I am hoping that by bringing it to the front of the blog, it will alert everyone to go Meet Neath in Montreal.
In case you wonder how this post got here, instead of being back there… well, I don’t know if I can repeat the process either.

How neat! To be able to find beauty in such a place, and then share it. Thanks, Leslie, for passing along this link.

Hi Eastcoastdweller!
I love to visit Walking Turcot Yards. Neath is a great host, and an observant artist. I am going to teletransport to Montreal tomorrow. Want to come along?
